Refer a Child

Edmund Rice Camps Auckland provides week-long holiday camp experiences for children aged 8–12 years in the Auckland region who would benefit from a break due to family, financial, or social circumstances.

Our camps focus on:
  • Children’s wellbeing and positive development.
  • Building self-esteem through encouragement and recognition.
  • Fun activities that promote teamwork, resilience, and friendships.
Who Our Camps Cater For:
  • Children aged 8–12 years old.
  • Children needing a break due to family, financial, or social challenges.
  • Children who may display challenging behaviour — we remain committed to considering all applications on a case-by-case basis.

Please note: Our camps are run primarily by trained young adult volunteers (aged 17+). While they are carefully screened and supported, they may not hold specialist qualifications.

Referral Process:
  1. Submit referral forms — Both a Referrer Application Form and a Caregiver Application Form must be completed. Forms can be requested by emailing [email protected].
  2. Application review — Our Child Liaison will review applications and may contact the referrer if further information is needed.
  3. Placement — If appropriate, the child will be offered a spot on camp, or added to a waiting list if the camp is full.
  4. Information pack — Prior to camp, caregivers will receive a pack (by mail or email) with details such as venue, gear list, dietary requirements, and consent forms.
  5. Pre-camp check-in — Camp Captains will contact caregivers closer to the camp start date to confirm attendance and answer any questions.
  6. Camp day — Children must arrive at the designated meeting point at the specified time for transport to camp.
